I received a copy of the Sex and the City 2: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack through One2One Network.
The first track on the CD is Rapture performed by Alicia Keys. The first of two appearances by Alicia. Rapture is originally a Blondie classic but Alicia gives it a slightly updated sound. You can buy this song separately on Amazon.com for .99.
Next is Everything To Lose by the British Singer-Songwriter Dido. Nice song, nothing special but not a terrible choice either. The third track is Language of Love by Cee L.
One of my favorites, Erykah Badu, is featured on the 4th track with the old timey sounding Window Seat.
Sex and the City 2 is set in the Middle East, so of course music corresponding with the movie's setting comes into play. Natacha Atlas a Belgian singer known for her fusion of Arabic and Western electronic music sings Kidda,. I liked this one and the next song by Michael McGregor, Euphrates Dream.
Other well known singers appear, Jennifer Hudson sings Love Is Your Color. The SATC 2 Soundtrack doesn't appear to take itself too seriously. Liza Minnelli sings a remake of Beyonce's Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) apparently for comedic effect. She sings this song at the wedding of Stanford and Anthony in the film.
Even SATC actress Cynthia Nixon appears on I Am Woman.
There are eighteen tracks in all. I have listened to the cd a few times to try to get an opinion on the songs. It is an interesting mix and it works together. I am not sure if I would have bought this CD on my own though. My usual listening choices are very different from most of the songs. I would recommend this cd for SATC collectors or for people wanting a nice romantic cd for an evening with that special someone.
