I've been on vacation. We went to Hot Springs, AR again. This time with the kids. We went to the Josephine Tussaud Wax Museum and the Mid-America Science Museum. Not to mention some local restaurants.

trapped!

Wah, I need to go somewhere! My car decided to start acting troubled last week. We have put off buying another car as long as we can. Mine is a 1996 model and the hubby's is even older.

It was warm this week. Anytime it gets warm my car breaks. Leave the owner stranded? Ok. Catch on fire? Sounds like a great idea!

This last time it started wandering back and forth whenever I pushed it to go faster than 40. This was quite unpleasant on the 55mph twisting and turning country highway that I had to travel on Friday!
I don't feel great affection for this stretch anyway. It is a major tailgater highway. Going 60? Not fast enough! Some moron always tries to stay on my tail instead of going around.

Anyway, that is the reason I am a little hesitant to go run errands. My hubby is testing out the car right now. Hopefully it is something he can fix. More likely he won't notice any problem like all the other times. Then it will blow up on me somewhere. Again like all the other times. Grr.

Puppies Trying To Off Themselves

I'll preface this by saying she is fine but my mom's puppy seriously tried to shorten her life this week. I have a cell video of the little beast that I will put up when I find the computer attachment for my phone.

I am watching my mom's puppy while she is in D.C.
The puppy is a dachshund named Bernese. Anyway, she was playing w/ her toy yesterday and a piece broke off.

I saw her pawing at her mouth and went to check on her. She tried to stand up then fell over and couldn't breathe. Eyes rolled back and cloudy.
I tried to Heimlich her and that didn't work. She got all floppy. I debated rushing her to vet but wasn't sure she would make it. By this time she was really floppy and still. Ended up reaching in her mouth to do a sweep and dislodged whatever it was by making her gag and blew in her face and she started coughing and breathed again.

Longest few moments of my petsitting life!

We have been so careful to keep stuff away from her, though she doesn't chew that much, and she chokes on a piece of her toy. Go figure!
Though I wasn't quite thankful for my err..learned skills in the past, I am glad that my emergency first aid experience with my kids helped me help the puppy!

I'm here

My mom is in D.C. this week so I am watching her baby. Her baby is Bernese, a long haired weiner dog puppy.
I forgot how much trouble babies can be!
